The Australian College of Pharmacy Board annual elections were held last week to appoint officer bearers for 2018-19.
As a result of the election process, Executive of the College comprises:
Dr Treasure McGuire President
Susan Holzberger Vice-President
Matthew Harris Director of Finance
Dr McGuire; an experienced pharmacy practitioner, pharmacologist, educator and researcher, is a long-standing member of the College and was elected to the Board in 2014. She is the Chair of the clinical faculty and member of the Academic Board. Dr McGuire has been recognised for her services to the profession including the Lilly International Fellowship in Hospital Pharmacy and Bowl of Hygeia, Pharmaceutical Society of Australia (Qld) and was credentialed as an Advanced Practitioner in 2015. Dr McGuire believes that skilled pharmacists play a key role in the global health village, and that professional bodies need to offer high quality education to keep pharmacists at peak performance to enable agility to changes in health care and professional roles.
Speaking of the appointment, Dr McGuire said:
“Following the annual elections, I am pleased to take over the helm of the College and to continue the work of the past Presidents. We have a team of committed Board members who recognise that we live in a digital age where our patients demand we develop innovative pharmacy solutions to deliver not only quality care but improved health outcomes. The College is committed to delivering cutting edge CPD via our world class Learning Management System and working with global health partners on practice initiatives led by our Academic Board. The team is keen to hear from and share ideas with members and key stakeholders on how we can work together in the exciting times ahead.
"The College’s recent achievement of international recognition as a provider of continuing pharmacy education by the USA-based Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) is an important development. It will allow the College to provide education to the global pharmacy community. It’s an opportunity to take CPD to the next level in a global market which will benefit Australian pharmacists from all sectors.”
