Overview 

Designed to give an overview of constipation and faecal incontinence in adults including sign and symptoms, identifying constipating medications and those that may contribute to faecal incontinence, and discuss pharmacological and non-pharmacological management options.

Learning Objectives

After completing this activity, pharmacists should be able to:

  1. describe referral signs and symptoms for patients presenting with constipation;
  2. identify constipating medications;
  3. outline the non-drug management of constipation;
  4. describe the pharmacological management of constipation;
  5. identify medications that may contribute to faecal incontinence.
