Learning Objectives

After completing this activity, pharmacists should be able to:

  1. Describe the sources of dietary protein and how protein is metabolised
  2. Describe the theoretical risks associated with excessive protein consumption and chronic kidney disease (CKD)
  3. List the risk factors and symptoms of acute kidney injury (AKI) and approaches to reducing these risks
