Overview 

Designed to give an overview of influenza in 2020 including prevalence, patients at risk of severe illness, differentiating the symptoms of influenza from those of other acute respiratory illnesses, and 2020 influenza vaccines.

Learning Objectives

After completing this activity, pharmacists should be able to:

  1. Describe the features and prevalence of influenza, and patient groups most at risk of severe illness
  2. Differentiate the symptoms of influenza from those of other acute respiratory diseases, including COVID-19
  3. Identify the 2020 influenza vaccines and their recommended use in different patient groups
  4. Explain the role of the pharmacist in influenza vaccination and supporting patients with the illness.
