Designed to give an overview of turmeric, including the components considered responsible for it's therapeutic effects, and the current evidence for it's use.

Learning Objectives

After completing this activity, pharmacists should be able to:

  1. Identify the components of turmeric considered responsible for its therapeutic effects and the current evidence for its use;
  2. Discuss the therapeutic effects, tolerability, and potential drug interactions of curcumin;
  3. Discuss the bioavailability of curcumin and strategies employed to improve it;
  4. Identify patients in which the use of turmeric should be avoided or used with caution.
