Asthma affects one in nine people in Australia. In 2019, 421 deaths were due to asthma – most of which are preventable. Over-reliance on short-acting beta2 agonists (SABA) relievers and underuse of inhaled corticosteroids (ICS) leads to poorer clinical outcomes, increased risk of flare-ups and increased risk of death from asthma. Good asthma control requires prescribing appropriate medicines as well as correct inhaler device technique and adherence to therapy.
This webinar will introduce Asthma Right Care, an international initiative working locally in primary care to improve asthma health outcomes in Australia.
