Overview 

Designed to give an overview of strategies and resources community pharmacists can utilise to assist in suicide prevention.

Learning Objectives

After completing this activity, pharmacists should be able to:

  1. Describe the prevalence of mental health and suicide in Australia
  2. Describe life events and social determinants that contribute to mental illness
  3. Describe problem solving and communication strategies that focus on mental health and suicide prevention
  4. Identify skills to better support people who may be experiencing a personal crisis
  5. Identify suitable referrals, support options and resources at local and national levels.
