Designed to give an overview of insulins including the properties of newer insulins, and advice for patients using these.

Learning Objectives

After completing this activity, pharmacists should be able to:

  1. identify the use of insulin in the treatment of patients with type 1 and type 2 diabetes;
  2. describe the desired properties of basal and bolus insulins;
  3. distinguish between the properties of newer insulins and indicate the advice that should be given to patients using these therapies.
