Designed to give an overview of coughs customers present with in pharmacy including, differential diagnosis, causes, treatments, and when to refer.

Learning Objectives

After completing this activity, pharmacists should be able to:

  1. differentiate between acute, sub-acute and chronic cough;
  2. discuss the most common causes of acute and sub-acute cough;
  3. understand the role of empirical therapy in managing cough;
  4. provide customers with advice on the management of acute and sub-acute cough;
  5. determine when to refer customers with cough for further evaluation.
