Overview 

Designed to give an overview of how a pharmacy can ensure they are contributing to improve health outcomes for individuals who identify as LGBTI, including opportunities available to improve retail and customer service aspects of a pharmacy business to support the needs of the LGBTI community, and also ensure their staff are educated to be culturally competent and non-discriminatory.

Learning Objectives

After completing this activity, pharmacists should be able to:

  1. recognise ways to contribute to improvement in health outcomes for individuals who identify as LGBTI
  2. describe the opportunities to improve retail and customer service aspects of a pharmacy business to support the needs of the LGBTI community
  3. describe the components of culturally competent and non-discriminatory practice for staff and customers.

The 2016 Competency Standards addressed by this activity include: 1.3, 1.6, 2.1, 3.1, 4.3, 4.4, 4.7
