Overview 

This activity looks at the various connective tissue diseases with an emphasis on lupus, its symptoms and treatments, both preventative and pharmacological.

Learning Objectives

After completing this activity, pharmacists should be able to:

  1. define connective tissue disease;
  2. define the term ‘lupus’;
  3. describe the various types of lupus;
  4. describe the various symptoms of lupus erythematosus;
  5. describe medications that may cause lupus-like symptoms;
  6. describe the various treatments available for systemic lupus erythematosus.
