Learning Objectives

After completing this activity, pharmacists should be able to:

  1. describe what is meant by heart failure;
  2. differentiate between reduced left ventricular ejection fraction LVEF(HFrEF) and preserved LVEF (HFpEF);
  3. describe some of the common symptoms of heart failure;
  4. describe the New York Heart Association (NYHA) classification of functional disability in heart failure;
  5. describe the types of medicines used in the management of heart failure;
  6. identify medicine-related problems for patients using medicines for the management of heart failure;
  7. propose strategies to improve adherence to medicines for heart failure
