Overview 

Designed to give an overview of motivational interviewing in the pharmacy, and how pharmacy staff may assist consumers in reducing the risk of harm from alcohol intake.

Learning Objectives

After completing this activity, pharmacists should be able to:

  1. Describe how alcohol is metabolised in the body
  2. Discuss motivational interviewing and brief alcohol intervention interviewing techniques
  3. Describe current guidelines to help reduce health risks from drinking alcohol
  4. Discuss the benefits surrounding the use of tools such as Apps to assist consumers to reduce the risk of harm from alcohol intake
