Overview 

Designed to give an overview of gestational diabetes mellitus, including risks to both mother and baby, treatment options, and ways pharmacists can support their patients.

Learning Objectives

After completing this activity, pharmacists should be able to:

  1. Describe gestational diabetes mellitus and the risks associated with the condition to both the mother and the baby;
  2. Identify patient risk factors associated with the development of gestational diabetes mellitus;
  3. Discuss the recommended treatment options for blood sugar level management in gestational diabetes mellitus;
  4. Describe how patients can be supported by pharmacists to manage gestational diabetes mellitus.
