This article will review the frailty syndrome and present a clinical approach that may alert pharmacists to the vulnerability of these people so that they can best help them optimise their quality of life

Learning Objectives

After completing this activity, pharmacists should be able to:

1. describe factors associated with increased frailty;

2. recognise the signs and symptoms of frailty;

3. detail frailty assessment;

4. discuss the goals of medication use for people with frailty to reduce risk;

5.provide recommendations to optimise use of medication in frail older people.
