Overview 

Designed to give an overview of turmeric from traditional medicine to the scientific evidence supporting the antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects of curcumin.

Learning Objectives

After completing this activity, pharmacists should be able to:

  1. describe the history of turmeric as a traditional medicine;
  2. discuss the scientific evidence supporting the antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects of curcumin;
  3. describe approaches that have been undertaken to enhance the bioavailability of curcumin.
