Discusses the terms overweight and obese and the extent of the problem in Australia, together with discussion of the 3 approved weight-reducing medications in Australia as well as non-pharmacological management.

Learning Objectives

After completing this activity, pharmacists should be able to:

  1. discuss the terms overweight and obese;
  2. discuss the extent of the problem in Australia;
  3. discus the use of the three approved weight-reducing medications in Australia;
  4. counsel a patient on the use of weight-reducing medications;
  5. discuss non-pharmacological methods for weight reduction.
