Overview 

Describes the properties, clinical indications, and contraindications of hydrocolloid and hydroactive dressings.

Learning Objectives

After completing this activity, pharmacists should be able to:

  1. identify the properties, clinical indications and contraindications of hydrocolloid dressings and hydroactive dressings;
  2. describe the physical and clinical differences between hydrocolloid dressings and hydroactive dressings;
  3. identify clinical situations when a hydrocolloid dressing would be preferred over a hydroactive dressing, and vice versa.
